The Mercat Municipal is one of the most iconic buildings in the town and a key reference point in the daily life of Arenys residents. Built between 1925 and 1929 according to the design of the modernist architect Ignasi Mas i Morell, it stands out for its monumental façade of exposed brick, carved stone, and modernist decorative elements.
Located in the centre of the riera, the market has been for decades the main commercial and social meeting point of Arenys de Mar. Inside, the space is organised as a large hall with stalls selling fresh products, especially fish and seafood, reflecting the town’s deep maritime tradition and the historical importance of its fishing port.
